Driving to the Zoo

This is a pretty old video- it happened a few days after the "happy face" marker incident, but it makes my heart happy every time I watch it! Sorry for the poor quality, but I guess it was compressed or something when Chris emailed it to me from his phone. It still makes me laugh....especially the last part where Ileigh falls! Ha!

Gosh, they are cute! :)

It is Friday, but Sunday is coming...

Our Lord has written the promise of resurrection, not in books alone, but in every leaf in springtime.
~Martin Luther

This is one of my favorite quotes. How appropriate and true? It is a glorious reminder of the resurrection.

Today we sat down with Eli and explained the history of Good Friday. I was nervous, but after talking with a much wiser, mother-of-three I knew what I needed to do. (Thanks, Kristen. I knew you would point me in the right direction) I was scared that he would be freighted, but he took it much better than I had anticipated. :) We really haven’t dealt with the issue of death until today. I was flat out amazed by the questions Eli asked. “Where is Heaven?” “Why can’t we see Jesus?” “Why did Jesus die?”

We talked about what a special day it was.
My mom came by to visit and the first thing Eli said to her was "Jesus died."
Wow- he really caught on to everything much more than I gave him credit. I need to learn to stop selling him short.

I am excited about the opportunity to have a ton of family over at our house to celebrate Easter- my favorite holiday.

I pray that each of you will have a beautiful and wonderful weekend; taking time to try to acknowledge the amazing sacrifice of Jesus, even though I doubt we can ever fully understand.

We made these little printouts for our neighbors, Eli and Ileigh's classmates and teachers. We put them in little bags and filled them with jelly beans.

Ileigh Grace- 14 months

Oh, child. You are sweet.
This month might be my favorite with your sweet little face yet.

You have become very attentive to me and your favorite thing to do is run up to me, give me big hugs and run off again. It nourishes my soul. You are my little sunshine.

You LOVE to be outside. Your favorite thing are the birds; if we are having a hard day, the best way to turn it around is for us all to go outside. You will cry when I let the dogs outside- just because you don't get to go too. You also love to blow kisses and you have the best little giggle. Oddly enough it reminds me of the little cat and its giggle on the Emperor's New Groove. Everyone around you busts out laughing at the sound of your little laugh.

(Ileigh is pointing to the birds)

Your vocab and verbiage has sky-rocked this month. Your new favorite things are the birds and balls. You also love to pretend to talk on the phone and will say "hi" and "bye" and put the phone down with a giggle.
You hate bows, but you love your Bubba. You love to run in the his room and pounce on his bed when it is time for him to get up from his nap.

Sweet girl, we love you.
You are fearless. I can't wait to see how God uses your boldness for His glory.
You are our sunshine and we are so excited to see where your future leads...

"A Moose, With Horns"

This is why I RARELY answer the phone in the afternoon.

Last week I got a phone call from a wedding client and decided to take the risk and answer the phone.

In the mere minutes I was in the other room, this happened.

I don't even know where he got the marker. I must say though, it is a struggle for me to change Ileigh's diaper most days, so the fact that he managed to mark all over her face as well is impressive.

Daddy Eli...

We got back into town last night from a quick Spring Break trip to Dallas. We got to spend some time with Heather while she is in Fort Worth for her internship and see her hospital and where she is staying. We also got to see Tom and Monica and their two adorable little girls. Those pictures are on Chris' phone, so I will save the details for another post.

On our way down to Dallas we saw the most colorful fields EVER. Chris and I just stopped everything and gasp when we say them. I announced that on our way home we HAD to get pictures of the kiddos there. Since Eli hasn't had to be the victim of our photography for a while, it was decided that he was up.

Isn't he just the most handsome thing? I think so.

Today, right before naps, he wanted to put Ileigh's doll down for a nap.
I told him that he was going to be a great daddy someday and he just beamed! It was adorable. He took the doll to his daddy to show him and then daddy helped him wrap her and put her back in the swing.
Eli has a great daddy to show him how to be a great daddy. :)
