Surprise!

I don't know if Chris can ever top my 25th birthday, but he came really close this year.

While we were driving home from Lubbock, he suggested that we go out to eat when we got back into town. I was really tired and just wanted to go home, but I agreed thinking that we would just have to cook something when we got home anyway.

As we got closer to town, he suggested that we go let the dogs out and then head to the restaurant. I told him that if we did that we wouldn't make it to the restaurant before they closed. He kept making excuses to go to the house and honestly I was getting a little annoyed, but I said that we could stop by the house.

I pulled up to the house and he raced inside to use the bathroom- the excuse that I finally gave into and let him go by the house.
All of the sudden he comes running out of the house saying that our dogs had thrown-up all over our house. Immediately I knew something was up. Our dogs have never done anything like that. I got out of the car and as I turned the corner in the kitchen everyone yelled "surprise!"

I have to say I was shocked. I might be a bit of a prier; I often interrogate people until I squeeze every bit of information out of them. It is hard for Chris to ever really surprise me, but I was totally in the dark on this one.

This little guy was so, so awesome! We pushed and pushed him that day. He only got a little nap and I was just waiting for a huge meltdown, but it never happened.

The Raths came! I was super excited! They had to leave early, so we snapped this picture. Look at Kayla, isn't she the cutest little pregnant lady?!?!

Here is everyone, minus the Raths

Oh, yeah, he is good.

Chris planned a Mardi Gras theme for the party. We had a Creole dinner and then cake. Here I am with my King Cake and Abbi...she helped me blow out the candles.

Morg found the baby! She will have good luck for the entire year!

When you are the birthday girl, you can pretty much get away with whatever you want.
I made all of the ladies put on a mask and take a picture with me...

And we had to get a mask on Chris and Eli!

What a fun party. Thank you to everyone who helped pull it off!
Chris, you are amazing- thank you for making me feel so special.

Tech

We didn't really take that many pictures at Tech, but here are a handful that I like...

I have to say that this one is one of my favorites!

After we left Tech we went to visit Chris's brother, Derek at work. It was nice to see him! We had a good chat, grabbed some frozen custard and headed home. We were all exhausted!
Little did I know that my awesome hubby had planned a surprise party for me when we got back home.

I never want to stop having babies...

If all of my kids are this cute I will never want to stop having babies. EVER...watch out, honey you might want to start thinking about a second job...:) just joshing.

Here are pictures from our 5 min firedrill photoshoot with the E man (this is where you see a cool wall, stop everything and jump out to take 5 min worth of pictures).

But wait, there is more! We headed to the Tech campus for a few shots after we left the Depot District.

We meet at last!

I wish that we could rewind time and re-live this weekend over and over. It was so awesome.
A few weeks ago, Chris got an e-mail from Tom, a college friend that he went to Tech with, asking if we wanted to meet them in Lubbock for lunch.

When Chris told me I was so excited. I had never met Tom and Monica, but I have been reading about them for years on their website and we are friends on facebook.
It was so good to meet them in person. They really are just as awesome as I thought they would be and I am certain if Monica lived closer we would be great friends; we have a ton in common.

Tom and Monica have two beautiful girls. Here is Katie Lynn "bump'n" fists with Eli. He wasn't too sure what to think.

Eli was very curious about 6 month old baby Karyn. I wish we would have gotten more pictures of her. Baby girls make my heart flutter and she was adorable!

Me and Monica...

Tom, Katie Lynn, Chris and Eli...

There was a golf course next to where we had lunch, and Eli and Katie Lynn enjoyed the beautiful spring day.

Katie Lynn liked jumping off of the bricks...

Eli tried to copy her...

Monica and I had a great chat while the hubbies watched the kiddos...

Look at this little cutie! I can't believe that she is only a little over a year older than Eli...they grow so fast.

Baby girls might make my heart flutter, but this little boy makes my heart melt.
Seriously, I couldn't stop telling Chris how glad I was that we went to Lubbock and met Tom and Monica. It was a blast. Thank you Tom and Monica for inviting us to have lunch with you! We will have to see each other again soon!
The weather was perfect, so we headed downtown to shoot pictures of the little guy after our lunch. I will post those after they are edited.

One of those weeks...

I am sure that we all have "one of those weeks"...last week was mine. Thank goodness it was birthweek or I don't think I could have pulled through. It was so nice to be able to look forward to a little surprise every day.
Anyway, Eli was teething something horrid and was incredibly needy. At first we thought he might have a stomach bug, but the two teeth that he was working on were very noticeable. He threw up Monday night twice all over Chris- poor guy! Wednesday he threw up in the nursery at church (thank goodness I had a change of clothes in the diaper bag for him.) and Thursday night he threw up twice while we were at dinner with my parents. Really, there is nothing more appetizing than the smell of throw up. He never acted sick or had a fever, so each time the episodes were a complete surprise.
It made for a really long week.

I did manage to finish the curtains that I was working on for our room though. They were super easy and the hardest part was trying to get them to hang right! This wasn't the exact look that we were going for, but I like it.

Here is a shot of the E man during his afternoon nap. I was checking on him and all I saw when I peeked through his door was his little foot in between the rails. That is the only opening in his crib. I had to get a picture.

Eli was happy to pose for me this morning in his new shorts that I made. Thanks, uncle Baff for letting us re-purpose your old shirt! It will get great use, I promise!

Sorry for the cruddy picture, it is off of my phone. I am pretty pleased with the shorts overall, especially being that it didn't take very long at all, it was my first try and I didn't have a pattern or anything. I wish that they were a tad bigger in the sides, but I will just cut that a little bigger next time.

This weekend was phenomenal and requires many different posts and tons of picture editing! Hopefully we can get those pics up soon!
