While Chris was at home getting ready for the Pink and Black Ball, he was listening to the radio. While he was listening, they offered a pair of MB20 tickets to the 98th caller, so he thought that he would give it a shot- and he won. He was totally shocked because there is no way that we can afford random concert tickets both being in school right now!
So, after Tif's family left from their visit on Sunday, we got ready for the concert...well actually, we started all of the homework that we had to get done before the concert. We really weren't interested in seeing the first band play, so we left the house around 7:30, hoping to see Alanis Morissette. The weather was pretty bad. Tif's parents had called to say that they had just driven through the biggest downpour ever, and that we should check out the weather. So, we checked weather.com - no big deal - and headed out the door.
As we were entering OKC- right at the I-40/I-35 interchange, Tif decided to flip on the radio to check out the weather...it hadn't really started raining yet, but looked like it could pour any second. As soon as she flipped the switch a weather advisory came on. It was really static-y, so it was hard to hear, but Tif swore that it said that there was a report of a tornado in OKC at the I-40/I-35 interchange. If you know OKC, then you know that the concert was right there, and we took the exit. We decided to head in the opposite direction of the storm just in case there was a tornado. Sitting at a stop light we realized that the city sirens were blaring...thing became a little more urgent...Racing through downtown, we pulled into the parking lot of the Skirvin Hotel- where we spent our anniversary this year- and they put everyone in the basement for about 20 minutes.
Needless to say, we didn't see Alanis...but we did get to the show as Match Box 20 was taking the stage. It was a great concert and definitely an exciting evening...
Here are just a few pictures from the event...
